Yes I have one for those who like to crack jokes...Recently I acquired a brain for a LFS that I thought was bleached out with no color...It is doing well in my tank, I just am not sure how much light or flow it needs to color up nicely...any help is appreciated.

They adapt to just about any lighting. I kept one under Power Compacts for years. As long as it's not in really heavy flow, they do fine.

I will ask this, what did you pay for it? Is anyone else noticing brain corals going for way too much money? I've seen up and over 100 bucks. I remember when a brain was 30 or 40 bucks max, and all of a sudden, it's expensive beyond belief.

Lighting could be flexible... but they don't like too much flow, since they're fleshy.

I had a brain that survived under really really bad PC lighting (got lazy with changing new bulbs).

My open brain seems to be the most hardy coral I have. I had it under PCs for some time and now it is under a mixture of PC & T-5 lighting. I purchased it at about 3-4" diameter max and now it opens up to 11-12" or more after about 8 months. It is actually taking over the whole bottom left side of my tank.

how long does it take to start showing signs of growth?
