 If it were my son or daughter being laid to rest, I know if would make me feel good to know that the escorts felt that kind of honor.

Thank you for that and for your own service to our country.

Ya know I've done this several times in the last year or so and it NEVER fails to send the family into tears again when they ride by just behind the hearse carrying their son, father or grandfather !

I really do feel honored to be permitted to participate.

When you escort, are you in a police vehicle, a car of some other type or on motorcycle?

A police vehicle...lights on and then when they go to enter the cemetary we get up ahead ...block the on-coming lane...get out and stand at parade rest til the hearse approaches....render our last salute.....hold that salute as the family passes by...then drop our salute....return to parade rest and remain there until the entire procession enters the cemetary grounds...!

I'm sure the family is grateful to have escorts like you who are honored to be there. Who better to honor our fallen hero's than our local hero's!
Thanks!

Good for you UH_OH. It is an honor giving the final salute to one who has payed the ultimate price.

I am hoping the idiots from KS did not make a showing.

Ya know I have mixed feelings about the KS idiots.....I don't want them disturbing the ceremony...but then again there are FEDERAL regs that cover disturbing a burial ceremony on fed property so at least we could lock them up !!!
