Well I surf the Lounge a little and found this and decided to share it with you all:

Oil Change Instructions for Women:

1) Pull up to Jiffy Lube when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change.
2) Drink a cup of coffee.
3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle.

Money spent:
Oil Change $20.00
Coffee $ 1.00
Total $21.00.

Oil Change Instructions for Men:

1) Go to auto parts store and write a check for $50.00 for oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree.
2) Discover that the used oil container is full. Instead of taking it back to O'Reilly to recycle, dump in hole in back yard.
3) Open a beer and drink it.
4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands.
5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car.
6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it.
7) Place drain pan under engine.
8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench.
9) Give up and use crescent wrench.
10) Unscrew drain plug.
11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: get hot oil on you in process.
12) Clean up mess.
13) Have another beer while watching oil drain.
14) Look for oil filter wrench.
15) Give up; poke oil filter with screwdriver and twist off.
16) Beer.
17) Buddy shows up; finish case of beer with him. Finish oil change tomorrow.
18) Next day, drag pan full of old oil out from underneath car.
19) Throw kitty litter on oil spilled during step 18.
20) Beer. No, drank it all yesterday.
21) Walk to 7-11; buy beer.
22) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket surface.
23) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine.
24) Remember drain plug from step 11.
25) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan.
26) Discover that the used oil is buried in a hole in the back yard, along with drain plug.
27) Drink beer.
28) Uncover hole and sift for drain plug.
29) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor.
30) Drink beer.
31) Slip with wrench tightening drain plug and bang knuckles on frame.
32) Bang head on floorboards in reaction to step 31.
33) Begin cussing fit.
34) Throw wrench.
35) Cuss for additional 10 minutes because wrench hit Miss December (1992) in the left boob.
36) Beer.
37) Clean up hands and forehead and bandage as required to stop blood flow.
38) Beer.
39) Beer.
40) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil.
41) Beer.
42) Lower car from jack stands.
43) Accidentally crush one of the jack stands.
44) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during step 23.
45) Beer.
46) Test drive car.
47) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence.
48) Car gets impounded.
49) Make bail.
50) Get car from impound yard.

Money spent:
Parts $50.00
DUI $2,500.00
Impound fee $75.00
Bail $1,500.00

I try not to let the mileage run much over 6000 miles inbetween oil changes. I use full Synthetic Oil because I drive so much. I log roughly 3000 miles a month.

Yeah but with so many miles in a month and not always having time for an oil change at 3K, I figure it's the best way to protect the engine.

My trucks manual recommends every 5k for oil changes I use full Synthetic as well. Jack stands Don't need em. I have a lift:D it's the gearhead in me

find me a jiffy lube that still charges 20 bucks

I use the full synthetic also, I shoot for between 5 & 6 K for oil changes with that stuff, it's not twice the price of "regular" oil & I can run it for twice the mileage, it's a no brainer

LOL! It's about true.

I use the synthetic. I change out every 3000 mi, sometimes 4000. Since my longest annual trip is 4000 mile rt, I usually change right before and right after. Flush radiator, etc. Probably I do it too often, but since my youth was spent driving cars that ran on sludge [you were afraid if you changed the oil, pieces of the engine would come with it]---it's my aim to keep this one in much better shape.

My instructions for when I change my oil:

Go to Napa, get oil and filter
Look for oil wrench... can't find
Get boyfriend
Try getting drain plug out... can't get out
Get boyfriend
Drain oil
Pour in oil
Rush under car to insert forgotten drain plug
Pour in more oil
Overfill engine
Get boyfriend
Drain oil
Turn car on
Add more oil S-L-O-W-L-Y
Get boyfriend for job approval

Time spent: 2 hours

Does your car "tell" you when you need an oil change???

And I do NOT mean by actually speaking either

Christy...

Mine does! I was so not pleased when I went for my first oil change since moving here and asked them to make sure that they check the coolant level as my car was telling me the level was low=they told me that was always checked with an oil change...

Well, the day after getting my oil changed and them telling me they checked it= my car told me other wise. I had tried to get the cap off but I couldn't so I knew they didn't check it.

I went to a sister co. that is only Chevy dealer and asked them to please check it for me and that lady had trouble getting the cap off also. A mechanic was walking by and she asked him if he would check the level for me and yup. sure enough the was about 1/2 gallon low. I was furious. I think I will be finding another place OTHER than the cadillac dealership to be a getting my oil changed!

First impression = not a good one!

I used to work on cars a lot when I was younger
Change oil, tune up, points etc

A co-worker decided he would try changing his oil
Didn't want any help
Drains it, fills it back up, starts the engine
High pitched whine!!!

Shut it off......he drained the tranny

Go buy more oil & tranny fluid :)
On the plus side his tranny fluid was so bad it needed changing
Probably saved him some tranny trouble (NO Les!!)

My car is a truck & my odometer & calendar tell me when to do scheduled services such as oil changes, tire rotations, etc

I had a '92 Grand AM that got it's first oil change and tune up at 73K. Never had a problem with the car until that, just add oil and gas and that car ran like a dream. After the oil change and tune up darn car didn't right for a month. It made it to 187K mile with only 3 oil changes.:eek1:

I change my oil every year like clockwork

I might just have 6,000 miles on my truck & have to change the oil for the 2nd time since I bought it 2 years ago
