My AC III has the ability to change the temp of my reef per the month of the year.. ie
June 77.5
July 78.5
August 80.5
September 78.5
October 77.5
November 76.5
December 76.0

A natural reef fluctuates temps....

Do we want temp stability in our tanks or not?

I personally would keep it the same all year round but the
temp changes stated wouldnt do any harm so if you think it is a nice idea then go with it.

I think it would be fine to use that feature with the AC. It's day to day fluctuations that we are trying to prevent.

If you want to attempt to get a coral to spawn it might not be a bad idea to let it fluctuate according to the month.

You want fluctuations, short and long term. Stability is completely unnatural, and there is no valid reason to think that animals in a stable tank would be any more healthy than a tank that sees normal fluctuations.

People spend gargantuan amounts of money on equipment that will eliminate temperature fluctuations....but I don't really think it's necessary.

I don't even run a heater. I only get a 2 degree swing in a normal 24 hour period, and the most I have seen was 3.5 in a 24 hour period when my powerstrip with my fans tripped.

My nanos vary 5 degrees a day without apparent problems, temp stability is over rated ime, imo.

Ever been diving/snorkling ? You can feel the temp changes and it's in seconds not hours
