I have a Deltec Kalk Stirrer.... Should I stir 24/7? The stirring happens at the bottom of the reactor, fresh water comes in inthe middle of the reactor when dosing and the lime water is dosed above ..

I have a AC III, so I can program the stirrer to come on at different intervals.

2-3/day for 10 min should be sufficient.

it needs more than that. it's not a 'normal' kalk reactor that uses a pump or high-speed magplate to whip up the whole chamber. it's a rather small chamber that uses a very low-speed mixing bar.

most people run them 24/7. but if i still had mine i would try only stirring and topping off for 8 hours a night. i think i didn't get good results out of it when i had it because it was going stale faster than i was dosing (since it's not sealed like most).

I evaporate about 5 gallons a day, and the kalk will only dose if the PH is below 8.3 (while a switch is monitors the sump level).

I will continue to run it 24/7 ...

thanks.

Dont run it 24/7. Those motors have lives.

I dont think it's necessary to run it more than a few hours each day (I used a digital timer to have it come on every few hours for 30m each).

The new water enters through the kalkwasser, helping to mix it anyways.

My kalk stirrer is only on for three to four times for ten minutes each time.

what is the benefit of not stirring the kalk mix?

what is the downside if I do stir 24/7

The benefit of stirring the kalk is to keep the solution is suspension vs. caking up on the bottom of the kalk stirrer.

If you stir 24/7 it's easy enough to get the particles in suspension to the point where that's all that drips back into the sump or wherever you have it dripping.

I should add you want the solution to be in suspension vs. the white particles.
