I have had my 75gal RR running for about 3.5 months. I have a 20gal sump/refuge and have noticed that there is a great number of whitish things growing on the walls of the refuge. They are about 1/2" in diameter and then it looks like a stem (like a polyp) is growing out from the middle. There are approximately 50 in there. They look like a sponge but I don't really know.

My camera is broken or I would post a pic. Does anyone know what they could be and if they pose a threat?
