Yes thanks for the ID.. Now is this a good thing or bad? I really don't have lights that will keep a anemone alive.. I purchased some cured live rock and to my surprise I got this..

it's a pest and you want to kill it before it spreads. i see at least eight, maybe more in the above pic.

Should I get a couple of peppermint shrimps to get rid of it. Its only on this small rock should I just pull the rock out of the water for a day.. Please advise..

pull it out for several days if they are only on the one and it's not been in the tank for any reasonable length of time, if it's been in there for a while, you've likely got them and you'll have a hell of a time getting rid of all of them. pep's are hit and miss and often will not eat them at all unless starved into doing so.

i'd pull the rock out for several days or pull it out and cook it.

When you say cook it you mean boil it? If so for how long?

10-15 mins depends on how bad infested it is. the pep shrimp is a hit or miss. on my old tank i had a good amount of aiptasia and bought about 6 peps and didn't do anything for 2 weeks then i just woke up one day to an aiptasia free tank.

I will boil the rock.. Will pep shrimp be alright with Srg Major, Damsal, Tang, Clown, Flame Hawk??

i think they would be ok. i have a wrasse on my tank and they don't bother my peps and cleaner shrimp. just make sure to get at least 5 peps and be prepared not to see them in a few days. some of them might not make it. mine always perfom the disappearing act on me and will just pop out of nowhere every now and then. out of the 6 i added, only 3 survied(i think), that's the number i only see at one point.

When people say "cook" your rock they usually mean put it in a large container with a powerhead and heater and close it off so no light can get in....

"Closeing it off from all light" So this will kill the Aiptasia only and everything else will stay alive on the rock?

Well too late last night I took out the rock and put it in a pot on the stove and boiled it for about 15 minutes. I then rinised it off really well with fresh water and threw it back into the aquarium..
Will this change my water levels? Or is it like just starting over with a dead piece of rock?

I quickly skimmed through this thread so disregard my post if someone else has already said it, but I just wanted to inform you that corals, & anemones are not plants at all they're animals.. and anemones are called inverts or invertebrates.
