Yes, I saw a few looking identical to that at a lfs tonight. They are all drooped over and look like crap. What makes it worse is that they were being sold for 100 bucks each. Only six inches tall mind you.

They do come natually in pink. Now I do not know about that pink but it is possible it is not died. I have seen pics blood red on the reef so who knows. This guy here is 4 years old. I have many frags of him some as big as him. The mother colony is the size of a basketball.

If I to guess from that pic I would say yes. Here's a good link http://www.reefsource.com/dyed_corals.htm

I checked Borneman's book, Aquarium Corals, and he says that a red colt is possible. I know a LFS owner and he said he got this guy in so I ran out and bought it. I trust him, he has never done me wrong before and I don't believe he meant to on this deal. Anyway, the coral is doing exactly what beetlejuice said, it's all drooped over and looks horrible. It started this a couple of days ago and that's when I wondered if it could be dyed. I don't know what to do for it, I've moved it around to different locations but nothing seems to make a difference. There's another colt in the same tank that I've had for over three years now and fragged many times. Never had a problem with it at all, so I'm at a loss as to what I could do to help this guy.

Aw geez, I just checked the link that shawnz28 posted ... no doubt now that this colt is indeed dyed.

The coral began to fall apart today so I pulled it from the tank. I forwarded the information and the link posted in this thread to the LFS where I bought it and they said they would make it up to me. Thanks for the help.

No prob. My buddy got two in at his store a few months back and was told they were not dyed. But as he found out they were.

red sinularia definitely exist. this one has been in my system for just about a year now; the color looks exactly how it did the day I got it.
