I've seen zoanthids that color before.

I have some of the ones with the pink center and light green or tan tentacles. Mine are pretty darn pink, close to what's shown in those photos. I think some of the green ones look a little bright, but that could be the light they have over the tank. Notice how some of the photos are taken without a flash and just the actinics on.

Check out the pic on pg. 186 in Borneman's Aquarium Corals. I've seen these in a few tanks, and they were actually that color.

I bought some polyps from that guy. They were amazingly bright when I first got them. They've lost some of that fluorescent color in the past few weeks, but still have a nice contrast of colors. I don't think it's because they were dyed, rather because I keep them under NO lights. I don't even know if it's possible to dye zoanthids. If someone did, they'd probably end up with a single color instead of the multiple colors you see on most zoanthids.

Some of those pics are taken under O3 pcs, so you're only seeing one side of the story. But they are definitely not touched up.

It's most likely the type of film used to take the shots. There are two basic types of color film on the markets: daylight (color balanced for 5600K) and tungsten (color balanced for 3200K). If the lighting contained actinic or MH in the 10,000K - 20,000K range, the heavy magenta and other saturation could be easily explained. A similar effect can occur with digital cameras.

Those pictures are ligit. If you saw them in person that would most likely be BRIGHTER than we the picture is showing.
