Hi all,

Need two IDs for my tank please.

First is a tang. Have scoured the internet and still can't find the name for this tang. LFS said it was quite rare here in the UK. Pic unfortunately isn't the best, plus there is a quite prominent orange top to its tail, which doesn't show up in the pic.

Second is some kind of pink polyp rock. Whilst acclimatising this yesterday, the bag fell into the water and filled up. Got a bad feeling now that it may have killed it. 24hours on and most of the polyps still aren't out. What do you guys think? Anyway here's a pic, would appreciate an ID too. Thanks, K

Havn't a clue on that fish, looks pretty though. The coral looks like a gonipora to me. But a second opinion is in order on that, so many corals, so many look alike.

fwiw, I would not suggest purchasing a fish from any LFS if you do not know what species you are getting. It don't matter if it's rare or not, if it's going to outgrow your tank in no time than not a smart move. Heck, for that matter, you could introduce a massively aggressive fish that may kill all other tank occupants. Not a risk I like to take. (get a small book you can take with you to the LFS, for those just in case instances where the urge to impulse shop gets to you)

Looks like a juvenile Ctenochaetus striatus. I agree on the Goniopora spp. coral in the second pic.

I had a striatus from a juvenile phase and it wasn't anything like that coloration. Also, I can't say from personal knowledge, but I have read that the striatus is the most commonly sold tank in Europe.
