i hurt. i hurt in places i didn't even know i had places. i fell this morning. in the dark. the fountain on the deck splashes water out. it got down to 25* last night. the water on the deck floor turned into something really slippery, i think it was ice. it was 5:15 a.m. when i stepped outside in the dark. darker than the inside of a cow. at 5:15 & 2 seconds, i was flat on my butt. i sorta caught myself but i twisted my shoulder, man that hurt.

i went all day not thinking too much about why i was beginning to hurt. by the time i got through walmart and the grocery store and stopped at the post office, i was starting to feel really, well, ouchy. after 25 minutes in the van coming home, i felt like i'd been hit by a truck. my EYEBROWS even hurt.

tomorrow's probably gonna be worse. do young people hurt this much when they fall? my butt is really sore. i bet i'm gonna be really crabby tomorrow. i'm warning you. :mad2:

You say that now! I did what Nina did about 20 years ago. Went and had my butt x-rayed and the doc said I had a bunch of small stress fractures in my tailbone. They couldn't do anything about it,(can't put a cast on your butt), so they sent me home with a little blow up donut that when you sit on it, it hits your tailbone!:eek1: Now I have aurthritis in my butt.

Only if you want to slip again

Sorry that happened - ice is treacherous. Once I was just standing still on some, I was about 14, and the next thing I know I was laying on my back waking up with a bunch of people standing over me. Anyway it's not an age thing :)

In pharmacy we called that "synergy" As long as it's only one of each, otherwise we called it an unfortunate situation.

Hope you feel better soon, for now you'll just be the BUTT of our jokes.

Sorry to hear that Nina, I'm just glad my butt does not hurt. You might want to get x-rayed just to be on the safe side. Doc could send you home with "your butt in a sling".

Hope you get to feeling better. If all else fails, I hear oxycoton (sp) is pretty good stuff.

I don't think that young people hurt that much. I slipped on the deck and saved myself, but flung an arm out to catch my balance, and the next day felt like I had bungy jumped with my arm. My 9 year old was walking out of the sliding door and before I could get out "becareful it's sli...", his feet went right out from under him, and he crashed down on his arm and him. Never complained once the next day!:( Now had that been me I would have walked with a limp for a week!

LOL nah, worrying isn't necessary. i am usually extremely careful because a bad fall would probably lead to the immediate dislocation of one or both fake hips and i certainly don't have time to deal with THAT!

it took me a year after my surgeries to get up enough nerve to straddle the saddle. my doctor told me to go horseback riding and enjoy it, just don't do any unplanned flying dismounts. just the thought of that kept me away from my favorite past time for almost a year.

bruises are a way of life for me. large animals and all, i always have some battle bruises. since it's too cold to wear my bikini while doing chores, the world is will be spared from seeing me black and blue. for now. ;)

Sympathies. A box of Bengay pain patches [stick on where it hurts] can help. So can a long soaking bath in Epsom salts. And Advil, kept up round the clock until the pain stops. And if you have a chiropractor, get in for an appointment---this kind of fall often produces kinks they can fix pretty handily. Mine is worth his weight in gold. Even Dick Button got caught by that kind of ice, uneven, unannounced, and unlit. Fortunately you kept your head up.

yikes! yep, if you're around horses long enough, you will be injured sooner or later. it's a given. i have, knock on wood, never had what you would consider a serious injury. i have been kicked, stomped on, bit, thrown up against walls too many times to count, fallen off (my fault), got thrown (horse's fault ;) ), had a few broken bones here and there but in 30+ years of being owned by these beasts, i have come through with flying colors. so far. :D

as for my hips, i love my hips. love 'em to death. i suffered for 2+ years with osteoarthritis before a diagnosis was finally reached. total joint replacement was my only option, none of the drugs made a dent in the pain. once i was fully recovered, my life improved 1,000%. surgery was no picnic and recovery was arduous but it was worth every minute. i know lots of people who have had knees replaced and they say the same thing...best thing they ever did. :)

Ouch, Nina, I hope you get feeling better. I've been upgrading my tank this week, and I had to refinish the stand, modify the canopy, and all that other reef geek stuff. I found muscles I didn't even know I had. I pop Ibuprofens like tic-tacs. :)

Got any vicodin? I remember that from my back surgery days. I have some morphine pills I could send you, but you won't be able to stand upright, lol.
