Well i want to get a HOB Fuge, my tank is 30" long and i currently have a BakPak 2 on the back, I saw that CPR Makes a fuge with a skimmer in it, anyone use this aquafuge? should it skim the same as my bakpak? I would rather have an all in 1 unit so i do need to powerheads and two pipes coming back in the tank. any knock off brands?

this is the one i was looking at. http://cgi.ebay.com/Aquafuge2-PS-LG-Refugium-w-protein-skimmer-from-CPR_W0QQitemZ280096773670QQcategoryZ46310QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks,

Jeff

I have the CPR HO that was on my 90g and it worked well, but I'm not big on their skimmers.
I haven't seen a combo unit that had a good skimmer.
I'd get the fuge, but you could do better w/ other skimmers.

This is what I get from my coralife skimmer, it's a decent priced/working HO

yeah, the problem is i dont want to take up that much room. I really dont want two powerheads and two return pipes, i think it would just look gross. I really wish i had room for an under the tank sump/fuge but i dont. I wonder if the aquafuge skimmer is just as efficient as the BakPak.

P.S. - that doesnt look like pure spring Drinking water, LOL.

There is a knock off brand

Considering it's just a piece of plastic that holds water and rocks, it can't be made poorly as everyone is going to say it is.
Also you can get a light for really cheap to mount on top.

tprize, have you used this brand, and if so, how is it working out for you? how does it skim?

I haven't yet, but I am thinking about getting this one. If you look at the design it is identical to the other one. It has the same skimmer set up, and bubble trap design.

neither of them will do much as far as water quality just not big enough skimmers they would work well on a 5 or 10g aquarium i guess but not a 50g
