Just kidding (unless you're serious). Our newest member at the Academy is now going public, so I thought I'd show you guys our favorite baby penguin Howard. He's about 2 months old, and grows like mad. He eats 30% of his weight in food every day! He just got his first swim lesson yesterday, and will likely be on display next week. More to come soon....

The new Academy is scheduled to open in late 2008.

Coral Reef Pods (CRPs) - Steinhart's biologists are growing huge amounts of coral for the move back to Golden Gate park in 2008.

Exhibit Opens March 31, 2007

The New Academy is opening in Fall of 2008, but the staff of the Steinhart Aquarium have already started preparing for the move. But how do you move a 500 lb. fish? Where do you put species that are extinct in the wild?

It's a bit confusing. We have an exhibit called "Aquarium Under Construction" opening in April of this year. It's basically a small behind the scenes look at how we are building the new aquarium, which will open in late 2008.

By the way, I'll be taking pictures of the big reef and hopefully posting them (I need to see what is fair game to show to the public) very soon. They're testing for leaks right now and the rockwork and archways are going to start getting built in the next few weeks.
