I have become aware that some of the soft corals do a lot of chemical warfare and I was wondering how this plays out.
For soft corals I have a piece of Devil's Hand, a small colony of zoos, two different kinds of green star polyps, some different mushrooms, two small pieces of Zenia and some Anthalea. Sorry for the spelling of some of these. I understand that these would not be too much for the 40 gallon breeder I am using and that the zoos and the hand are the only that I have that do this chemical warfare to a great extent but I could be wrong. I am looking at what possible soft corals I could add in the future without having to add a canister filter and carbon in the future. Thanks.

Most of the harmfull chemicals are released when the soft corals are injured. So don't frag them in your tank. Or if they get caught in a pump, do an immediate water change, and run some activated carbon. But I wouldn't worry about the release of chemicals otherwise.
