Tank Cleaning

Given a Tank from a friend how should I go about cleaning so the glass is shining like new.

I've always used a wet towel and sprinkled table salt on it. It acts as an abrasive but can't scratch the glass.

Use a water vinegar solution too. It will take away the calcium deposits on the glass. I like the Salt idea :)
