This just popped up on a rock that I've had in a tank all by itself since I got it. I've had the rock for about 3 months now and didn't notice it until a couple of weeks ago.

Anyone have any clue as to what it might be?

Definately a coralimorph of some kind. I'd be hard pressed to identify the particular species of mushroom like critter it is at that size though.

Maybe you'll find more! :)

Any chance that it is Florida (caribbean) rock?

yep looks like some sort of hairy mushroom to me too....maybe a rhodactis by the looks of some of the nodules.

Any chance that it is Florida (caribbean) rock? I'm sure there's a chance, but I have no clue. I got it from a fellow reefer on his way out.

Shroomy. I just found a blue one that made the trip from Ohio with me.

Chad I have those shrooms in my tank next to the green and purple mushrooms. They get big and frilly =]

I concur that it is a rhodactis mushroom.

Thanks everyone! What a neat hitchhiker. Perhaps I'll go ahead and break that corner of rock off and put it in the main display.

It should get huge. I have three green and yellow rhodactis that are about 6" across each.
