other rocks tat are salt tank safe?

I hear all the talk of "dont use this or dont use that rock in your tank it will leech out whatever"

my question is are there any types of rock that can be used in a salt tank that are safe?

I ask because live rock is costly and it would be nice to be able to make a base of some other cheap rock then put live rock on top of that to look good...but not cost a bunch.

I know its tough. The truth of the matter is that you could use just a few lbs of live rock to "seed" some dead rock and make it live. The trick is to find some very pourus rock that will not leech into your tank. I think that you will find this thread interesting if nothing else.
