I'm not quite sure that this is Aiptasia- it tends to generally be more brown but this one is kind of fancy looking..

Any ideas?

I agree it's probably not aiptasia. In my experience aiptasia has little to no color whatsoever, and the tentacles are thinner and longer than I'm seeing on yours. doesn't mean it's not a problem, however - just keep an eye on it. it's actually pretty cool looking. how big is it? can't tell from the pic

It's growing between the baffles in my sump maybe about the size of a dime. Pretty neat looking in my sump I think i'll leave it unless i see it sprout up like mad

I agree. if it's in the sump no problem. what kind of light do you have down there?

I have i think a 13W PC light thats white.. bulb came with the little hood and all so I don't recall exactly but it is on for about 7-8 hours or so during the night.

I will see if i can't get an ID in the anemone \clown forum too even though they are used to dealing with much larger specimens :)

I have one like that in my tank. It's defiantly aiptasia.

what kind of lights do you have on this tank? i find the aiptasia that goes into really bright light will look like that.

i have one exactly like that. about the size of a quarter, white/grey and purple striped and shrinks up or inside like an aptasia. i assumed it was an aptasia, but if anyone decides otherwise i'd love to know.

It is aiptasia.

there are several slight variations including the "curli-Q" style, and they all suck.

nice pic BTW. Man I wish everyone could take ID pics like that.
