What's the best choice as far as ligthing system for my 40 gal breeder (36x18x18). After research about taking care of SPS coral. I guess I ready to begin stock hard coral. I thinking about one 250 Metal Halides, and two T-5. I don't know is 14 k is a good idea for MH. As far as T-5, what is a good option? Thanks!!

yeah you could a 14k halide and then atinic or 20k t-5's. Would give a you a nice blue color.

Why not do just T5's?

i like halides better....you get better penetration and i like the shimmering effect that they produce

You can keep SPS under T5's and they will do just fine. T5's run cooler as well.

T5's can penetrate as good OR better than halides, depends on the system.

If you like halides and heat isn't an issue the halide/T5 combo is great. 14K halide with a Super Actinic and Blue Plus T5 should look sweet.
