Hey all,
I decided that I am going to get a tattoo. This is a gift to myself after working my *** off in med school....
I have ideas of what I want but suck at artist stuff. If anyone can draw awesome dragons or knows someone who can please let me know!!!
:)
Thanks a billion!

I gave my design to a tattoo artist and had him do a little tweaking, and I love it. Maybe find the studio you are going to have it done at, and ask them what they can come up with for you - 9 times out of 10 they are amazing artists with a pen/pencil as well as with a needle! All they usually need is a point in the right direction for a design...

Yea, just find out where you are gonna get your tattoo and that artist will be able to hook you up I bet. You can always google or yahoo search "dragon tattoos".

I hear Ink Gallery is pretty good. I know a few people who had work done there.

Just be sure and see lots of pics or in person the artists work! I have some freinds that went to nice studios and came out with what looked like a 3rd grader did it! Mine looked awsome but the guy in the next room did awful work on a freind! So just because a studio has a good name you might just get unlucky enouph to get the new guy! Try to find someone who specializes in that kind of drawing. Good luck!
Take a look at Chinese dragons, and you may be able to find a clipping that's too old to be too common.

hey mimi, first off go to lone wolf, preferably in hillsboro village. they are top notch and have been voted #1 in nashville for years and years. tattoos are one of my other interests and from speaking with many artists the key to getting an AWESOME ink job is to let the artist be creative. they arent interested in someone coming and picking a piece of flash off the wall and saying slap this on me. i think you would have a much more personalized piece if you let the artist freehand you whatever design you desired. best of luck, and i def. want pics when its done!!!!!!! also remember, a good artist from a bad one is differentiated by someone who will answer EVERY question you have, not just a few of them so ask ask ask :) this is with you for life. it can either be unbelievable or cost thousands to fix due to poor work (like my right arm currently) its costing me nearly 5k to cover/fade my half sleeve and then redo it to a full sleeve with a cherry blossom tree fading into tokyo bay in japan. it will be very worth it in the long run. good luck!<~~steve
edit:look into classical japanese tattooing. the dragons they use are very powerful in appearance and are quite easy on the eyes as well :)

thats very true angela...we had a friend who went to heart and huntington tattoo in vegas which is another tattoo studio that has a show on tv...if you didnt already know that. well he had a simple panther tattoo done by someone who really wasnt all that good for being in such a well known studio and it came out looking like crap. so even though it was a great place and it had a good name he got a bad tattoo. thats the reason why we want to set up an apointment with someone that we know has real experience like kat von d since we want portraits done and she does great on them.
were pretty new to tennessee so i really dont know of anyone that has a good name or id just do it here but im not trusting someone with something thats permanant like a tattoo. id hate to have to pay to have it covered up or have it removed which is a fortune so if i was to get one done locally by a stranger id be sure to check out there portfolio to see there work which if there good they will be glad to show you or just ask around and see who has a good name for doing good tattoos and set up an apointment with that person so you dont get stuck with someone who isnt all that good. dragons can be really hard to do and easy to screw-up but they look great when done right. also you can do a search on google pictures for dragon tattoos and if you like one just print it out and go from there. good luck with it :)

Lone wolf in hillsboro vilage is the only place to go. Try to get an artist by the name of Brandon Hanna. He does awesome work but has a lengthy waiting list. Hes done a couple of pieces for me & i will go to no one else. You may be on a 4 to 6 month waiting list for him but its well worth it since you will have the tat forever.

Thanks a bunch guys! I have some color dragons and ideas for the artist to be....I am helping my brother move to LA next week and I'll be there for a week and a half.....he's been wanting to get some chinese characters done on him too ( he got a friend to translate his characters for him). So we were gonna do a sister/brother duo tattoo thing!
If I don't get a good vibe I won't do it! I have wanted a cool, different dragon tattoo for years and I want to be sure it's what I want! If I don't find a good place in LA I'll go to Lone Wolf....
Oh, and the thought about going to Miami Ink has crossed my mind too!! But I am sure they have an immense waiting list too!
Thanks again! I'll post the tattoo when I eventually get it!!!
:)

I just got a dragon tattoo about 6 months ago, that goes up my arm and onto my chest. This tattoo took about 20 hours to complete. I had mine done by a artist in smyrna called magic marty. He has been doing tattoos for over 20 years and is one of the best i have ever seen. Make sure you like the artist's style, cause your stuck with it for life. :)
