I havent run my aqua c in a while and have since 'borrowed' the Rio 800 to use on my PhosBan reactor.

I'm about to buy a new powerhead to replace it and just wanted to see what everyone else might use.

Would you stick with the rio 800, the maxiJet 1200? Any suggestions are always welcome.

What AquaC do you have? The standard Remora uses a mj1200.

hmm didn't realize there were different ones :S

Mine's just a plain ol' Remora Aqua C that had a Rio 800 on it.

I did some reasearch on the mj1200 and it uses 20W for 295gph. the mj900 uses 8.5W for 230gph. The cost between the two is miniscule.

Would 295 GPH make a difference compared to 230gph for the skimmer? I'm planning on putting the skimmer on a ten gallon nano in the near future if that makes a difference here :D

It would definitely make a difference, the more gph you have the better skimming you will have. That said I believe the largest pump you would want to put on a standard Remora is a Mag 3 (you should probably get the larger collection cup too if you go that route).

I upgraded mine with a Mag 3 and added an overflow drain to the collection cup, but that would be silly for a 10 gal nano.

The mj1200 will be more than sufficient. :)
