Heading to puerto rico for vacation. Anyone know of a good local reef store there? Got car...will travel...and would love to check out the local reef scene.

I don't know about reef stores but snorkelling was great in Luquillo. You have to drive around a little bit till you find a good parking space. We found this little public access spot with a couple of spaces. There was a big seagrass area and a bunch of corals and fish within a couple hundred feet of the shore. There were tangs galore and a few rays swimming around.

Also, if you haven't found a place to stay, the Beach Buoy Inn in San Juan was nice and not too expensive.

I live in PR and there aren't many reef stores per say but there are some awsome places to snorkle. Most of the best places are on the opposite side of the island from San Juan. Great reefs right off the beach. If you get a chance I suggest you take a day trip to Culebra on the ferry that leaves out of Fajardo and go to Flamenco Beach. Some of the best snorkling is at the right end of that cove.

Thanks for the reply...I'm responding from PR. I'm staying at the Copamarina in Guanica, near Ponce. There are tons of blue-legged hermit crabs everywhere of the beach in the lagoon. I can't believe our LFS charges for these...LOL....I stopped by some pet shop but the picking are slim. Thanks for the advice.
