When dosing Randy's two part supplement daily is it ok to add all at once ? No need to drip, correct?

Correct. As long as the pH does not get too high when using Recipe 1. Add it to a high flow area away from delicate organisms.

HI, Randy I have a few questions. I went out today to get what supplies I needed for your recipe.

1. My PH stays right around 8.2. Should I use recipe 1?

2. I could not find Dow flakes, but did find Prestone Driveway Heat. If I read your recipe right (1/5 less solid calcium chloride), I should add 400 grams (about 2 cups) with enough water to make 1 gallon total volume. Correct.

3. The only Magnesium chloride hexahydrate I could find was from Home Depot. It is made by North American Salt Company. Thier web site is www.nasalt.com. Should I use this or just stick with 3B and use 8 cups of Epsom salts?

4. My tank consists of about 120 gallon total water. I have alot of coraline growth on my rock. I have mostly softies with 1 LPS, 2 SPS, 1 5" clam. Would you call this mixed tank, or heavy?

Sorry about all the questions. Just want to do things right and you seem like the right person to ask.

Thanks for your help, Jeff

1. I'd probably go for recipe 2, but my tanks bottom out at 8.3 at night. What's the daily low?

2. That's about right for recipe 1.

3. I got my Mag Flake online. It's worth the cost and effort, in my opinion. About $60 for 50 lbs from HarveySalt.com. I think BuckeyeFieldSupply.com is also selling it, along with other vendors.

4. Coralline can consume a lot of calcium, so your tank might go through a lot of 2-part.

I have never really seen my PH anything other that 8.2

I tested today and I came up with this.
PH 8.2
CA 400 (I have added some liquid calcium over the last few weeks)
KH 7.2
Mag 1110

In the article it says to bring calcium and alk up to desired level, then start daily dosing daily. Should I also bring my magnesium up also before starting my regular dosing?

I'd raise the Mg 100 ppm or so per day, and start dosing alkalinity and calcium now. That level of Mg is not so low as to cause a lot of problems for the few days it'll be out of line, in my opinion.

Sounds like a plan I am going to start tommorow.

Thanks
