starting a hospital tank

Is it as easy as putting in a heater, filter, airstone? Check water parameters and go?

Can I just buy salt water from my LFS, and introduce my sick fish to it? No cycling at all? No substrate? No rock?

Was gonna do 10 gallons.

I think most people use water directly from their tank to fill the hospital tank. Not sure about the airstone either, maybe if you use it as an air lift it would work better.
