i know from experience that corals will "poop" when they are stressed out, but, will they poop as a normal part of their life like we do? do corals poop on a regular basis or only when they are stressed out? thanks!

As far as I know, all creatures expell waste, corals included.

the reason i ask is because yesterday after i fed the corals with phyto and cyclopeze and a few hours later my frogspawn, hammer and a ricordia pooped within an hour. so i checked my water parameters and everything was fine. do the corals get on the same "wavelength"?

Hey!! There are no stupid questions here. Sometimes the answers are... well nevermind. Anyway, about the wavelength, great question.

Next obvious question is do they communicate with each other. Chemicals would be the obvious answer, but what if they had e-mail?

hmmm.... the same pooping schedule.... that would be bad in a house with only one bathroom :D

"thick brown stringy stuff".....

nope. no changes. no i just fed them an hour or two before they started expelling. it was phyto and cyclopeze mix. i figured the same thing, that they were stressed and were puking their insides out. but, they were all fully out and extended. in the past when my frogspawn had done this, when i was first starting out, it was recessed and shrunk in when it did this. when the frogspawn, hammer and ricordia did it yesterday they were all fully extended and looked fine, except for the poop.

It's normal. Anemones do it too the day after a big feed. Fish usually eat it, which is disgusting.

I have got to spend more time in front of my fishtank, I've been missing some important stuff.
