Starfish being eaten alive!

I have had a small red starfish for about the last year, and he had been doing great until the last couple of days. It looks like something has been munching on his legs, he is slowly vanishing, the only thing that has changed since this began is the addition of a peppermint shrimp, does anyone know if they will eat starfish? Thanks for the help!

probably not enough food.. hes most likely been starving the whole time and now he is dropping legs and pieces to save his core....

Yep I had the same thing happen when I first got into the hobby. I had a serpent that was losing all his legs. I started target feeding it pieces of krill and within a couple of months his legs were growing back.
