Thanks,
Most of the pics were taken before I finished setup
I kept adding to the display
What you see is probably only 75% of what was eventually setup
Comcast is free as a hosting site, but it's a little bit flaky so far
I'll have to see how the links & pages are updated on their server tomorrow
I think I have to much floating around

This year was about 15,000 lights - next year will be around 60,000

Scuba darling.... have you considered checking into the Guiness World Records for watts or power usuage or maybe the number of lights on a home? I'm thinking you are really onto something here. You should check it out and see if you are close or maybe never been done. Adding that to your site credentials would ROCK!

Yes, I'm moving mostly to LED's
I will have about 1.5 miles of extension cords
About 1/2 mile of rope light

No, there are people with far more lights then me

One setup was 2 MILLION lights!
Some people join their Christmas displays
One neighborhood had 14 houses connected together with a synchronized light display

In Boston there was a guy who had over 100,000 lights

I'm still pretty small compared to some people
But probably the biggest display in Town
Or in most nearby towns

When you get to 2 Million lights it becomes a logistics nightmare
Putting up the 15,000 I have now is pretty much straightforwad & down to a system.
10,000 additional lights will be on a "Mega tree" that will be about 20' tall. It will have 36 strings each of red, white & green. It will be computer controlled & be able to change colors
An additional 5,000 lights will be on (18) 2' mini-trees setup the same way
Then an additional 4,000 lights will be on 6' tall Christmas trees, again setup the same way
One guy has 60,000 lights on 200 mini trees!!!
You start out "small" then keep adding
I will add each year, I'll probably reach 100,000 in a few years

I will need to build my garage 1st, I am running out of places to store stuff

I have most of the links fixed & working
I just have 2 menu items under "How To" that I need to setup
It's a free menu system, not the best - but it works
Problem with every menu system you need to figure out how they work :)

Plus I need to let the pages update on Comcast befoe I test them
I kept trying to fix things that were already fixed

Plus a bunch of lights
Some are rare, most are not sold any more

Even with buying mostly LED's this year I will be around 180a of decorations for next year
This summer I am running 8 additional 20a circuits to spread the load out. Four of the circuits will be in the front gardens (near street) to cut down on extension cord use. Two will be by my large Oak tree - which I will be lighting up this year
One more will be on the house, an another one if the soffit area for icicyle lights & nativity set on the porch roof

I picked up some Christmas lawn decorations from a guy in Milton.
He has 290 outlets in & around his house that handled his Christmas display. At the peak he said his display was worth maybe $50k

I figure I will ned to buy 1/2 mile of extension cords this year
I already have about 1/2 mile :eek2:

NOTE: correction - I'm OVER 180a!!

I'm going to have to change my signature again
I have over 17,000 LEDs on the way
Plus another 10,000 reg mini lights

I'm around 75,000 lights now

One guy I was talking to has 500,00!!!

Dave, I'm not sure why your wife wants to bring you to my house, but I'm thinking it has something to do with the state mental hospital that I can see from here. ;)

Aliie
03/15/2007, 04:51 PM
Debi you know he wont go to the hospital unless he can wear his special little hat! :D Not to mention it will have to match his little gown. Maybe we can get them to line his room with lights and it will make the transition easier!
