Everyone talks about having very good lighting for clams im curious I have 1 10K white light and 1 Actinic purplish light. Is that enough for a small clam if I put it up high on my live rock close to the light.

Depends on the wattage of the bulbs.

More importantly, clams shouldn't be kept in tanks until that tank is considered mature. Personally, I don't consider a tank mature until it's about a year old.

Both lights are 30 watt

Not nearly enough for clams. I wouldn't suggest clams to anyone who wasn't running MH or VHO lights.

I bought a clam last night. I have VHOs' and put the little guy on the sand and he has not yet opened this morning. Should I move him up to the rocks?

How big is your tank? I would place the clam in the mid section of your tank.

My tank is a 135. From what I had read previously, clams like the sand and not the rocks?

how do you get them to stay on the rock?

Where you place your calm depends a lot on the type of clam. There is a lot of info in the clam forum on RC, scroll down in the nav box.

HTH and good luck.
