does anyone have a sump working without all the baffles?? does it have any compartments in it, what is in it..... I have a 55 gal tank that I am going to use as my sump, and am wondering if I can go without installing baffles....

the baffles are mainly there to aid in bubble dissapaiton. Without the baffles you will be fighting micro bubbles constantly. Anyways, why against the baffles? They are easy to install and cost almost nothing and serve a very important purpose, as well as dividing your sump into compartments for fuge and return chambers.

If you go with no baffles then I recommend a filter sock. This will stop the micro bubbles from the over flow. However it will not help with your skimmer return if it produces a lot of bubbles.

Where ever the intake is on the return pump, surround that with rubble and live rock to aid breaking any bubbles up before sending them to the display. As well as giving a place for pods to congregate and get sucked up to the display as well.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try the live rock idea around the pump.
