What is this stuff???

What is this orange stuff?? I went to change out the carbon from my Mag canister, and saw this. It looks like rust but isn't. It was even on the carbon itself. It doesn't come off. It's like it is stained? Is it something the carbon is pulling from the water? Do you have TDS meter is everything ok there?

No I don't. I should probably get one. I just never have had a wierd problem like this. My RO/DI has been hooked up to the same water source for 2 years. Do you think it's some kind of mineral deposit?

We think it may be some kind of ochre biofilm formation, iron based. We had a very long thread on it a couple of years ago.
