Hermit Crabs eat Chaeto?

I put some Chaeto in the Main tank. Do hermit crabs eat the algae? cause they are all in it moving around in it and stuff. I think some food got flowed into it and they chomping on it.

They're herbivores so unless there's something toxic in cheato they would probably like it.

There are many species of hermit crab, and I guess some of them might eat Chaetomorpha. I think it's more likely that they are picking through the alga for small animals or bits of fish food to eat, as you suggested.
