Currently my alk is 7.4 dkh and very stable. Should I try to raise it using baking soda to 8.0 dkh? I'm bored just watching my corals grow, and I wanted to do something to my tank. Doesn't raising alkalinity increase some sps growth?

Thanks,

James

Increased ph is going to effect coral growth. Im not sure if higher alk will effect growth or not.

You can raise it to 8dkh if you want to , but i would do it slowly over a day through atomatic freshwater top off.

7 dKH is fine, if that's the daily low. Is that measurement just before or just after dosing? What is being dosed now?

This article covers all the water parameters, and the acceptable ranges:

PH is 8.05 - 8.25 I'm dosing kalk via Kalk reactor at night using LM3. During the day I have my calcium reactor running for 12 hours. If 7 dkh is fine, then I'm not going to mess w/ baking soda.

Thanks,

James

I agree that 7 dKH is fine, as long as the ph is not too low. That would match NSW. :)
