DSB in main tank?

I was wondering with my current setup 75g with 55g refg. Could I just have a real deep sand bed in the refug and then just a few inches in the main tank? THANKS

That is kind of what I am doing, I have a six to eight inch sandbed in my rubbermaid stock tank sump, and just about an inch of sand in the main tank.

I like it, it seems to work well.

I have had this similiar setup now for about a year. Tank was bare bottom for 4 years then set up DSB Refegium, mangroves, LR, calerpura and soom critters. Have recently (6 months) added about 1.5" to the front of the tank, in front of rock work. It is working its way back, but have seen no problems yet. Love the looks compared to the Bare bottom. The tank has been running for about 5 years total.
