Flashing Wrasse

I just got a new carpenter flasher wrasse and she is soo cool. I read that the females don't flash as much or at all so I was kinda disappointed, but now I don't really care because she is really cool anyways. So if I got a male would I be able to put him in or would he kill the female? thanks

Add a male and all will be fine.

craig I was asking because I read that you are supposed to have 2-3 females to 1 male. saltwater4life i will post pics as soon as i get a male. might be a while before i can find one though. thanks for the help.

Most wrasses are hermorphadites. They start as females and if there is no dominate male present the dominate female will become male.

You maybe ok since you added the female first. It is recommended though to keep aggressions down to have multiple females to one male. I had one male and one female and the male still harrased the female so much she kept jumping into my overflow. I had to remove the female. Don't forget that in the wild the fish are not restrained to 30 gallons of water.

Keep in mind these fish can change sex as well. Your female could easily turn into a male depending on age. My flasher flashes at his reflection in the glass quite often. Very cool active fish and has been 100% reef safe for me.

Be sure to cover your tank they will jump I lost one that way.

Yea, when i first put him in my purple psuedocromis chased him and he tried to jump, but luckily the tank is covered

also would i be able to add a mcoskers flasher wrasse and a filamented wrasse? or will all 3 of them fight to the death
