Just curious is the search function is now only for premium members. I haven't gotten it to work in ages.

No it works sometimes. Usually this site is packed with people so the off hours is when it works the best. Before I paid for my membership I think I only got it to work 3 times.

It's worth the small price to be able to search.

I got it to work the other day in the middle of the night, but have tired several times since then with no luck.

I usually just use google: "search string site:reefcentral.com"

Hi,

Apparently the free members are not worthy of "searching".
You must pay for that privilege.

That couldn't be further from the truth Dave. In the last hour, there were 99 searches completed by "free" members and only 55 by Premium Members. Since you've not even attempted a search since September 06 your observations might be a tad out of touch. ;)

[search]

Before I joined as a paying member, I never once got a search to work. I just got tired of it, and thought maybe it would be better if I just paid the $24. Amazingly never an issue again, except having threads locked because the moderators didnt like that I posted a logo contest for our local reef club!

Dave

Come on you have been using this site for six years. The small donation they ask a year is nothing in comparison to the amount of information and and enjoyment gotten from RC.

exactly

SOMEONE is paying a bill, though they do have sponsors

EDIT: I joined earlier today just for the search function, though it takes a day or two for it to kick in

As much as I use this site as a tool, the minimal fee of being a supporting member is nothing. The cost of a magazine subscription is way more expensive compared to what RC has to offer:)

Except National Geographic...best deal in town for a magazine, IMHO. :D

And I agree, the membership for RC is nothing compared to what I spend on my tank, and what I get in the form of info/enjoyment from RC.

Somtimes it works for me somtimes it does not. Im debating wether or not to pay the premium. Its about 30$ Cad a year. Thats not so exspensive.

The search always works after 1am here :D till about 6am.
