Nope no mods on either one, well except for the return on one. I removed the bubble box and just placed an elbow on it. I guess I got lucky mine work like charms. I do have the occasional over flow once and a while though. I just clean it out once a month and it pulls real good. The first picture is of the one I got on Christmas. I hooked it up on the 28th and I took that picture tonight. Ive had the one of my 55(the second pic) for about 1 year. It took that one a little bit to break in but the other one started working right away. I usually have to empty them like once every week or 2.

Is it adjusted correctly? Are you getting a white foam or just the liquid.

I get it like that too... I have a 1,300 litres (340 g) tank with a Marine Concept 250 skimmer, I only have one Siganus vulpinus, two Stenopus hispidus and a few sessile inverts. The skimmer is only producing a dry foam but it really adds up over 10 days or so... Just be happy it's in the collecting cup and not in the water!
As for a use, I wondered about using it as a fertiliser for mangroves... You might need a whole forest to get rid of it all though!
