I bought a 240 gallon fish tank 96x24x24 from glasscages about 3 or 4 years ago and I must say I LOVE the tank , they did an excellent job with it ,

plus they are cheaper than anyone else and in driving range

Im wanting to get a tank exactly half that size , whic is a 120

4x2x2 , , because I would like to have an octopus again , ive been successfull keeping them in the past and I miss them so Im going to get another within the next year

I only want one overflow box in this tank

I was thinking about just having 2 drains and no holes in the tank for returns, but rather have the returns just run out the back of the stand and then up to the tank ,

Is that method ok ?

It is absolutely fine.

As you can see it only has one corner overflow box (takes up less space)....

It comes with 2- 1" holes (one for drain and the other for return) but you could definantely use them both as drains and then send pipeing or hose through the back up and over and it will work fine.

Infact, it will be an excellent back up should one of the drains get clogged for whatever reason. (I personaly was thinking of doing it this way but have not 100% decided just because I really dont like to see any hoses or such by the sides and feel alot can be done to insure that you one drain will never get clogged)

Hope this helps.

is $275 a good price for a 120 , thast what glasscages as priced me ,

thast just the tank , if I want one overflow and two holes its and extra $75 bucks, they have a 120 at the petco near me with not overflows or holes and its $475 bucks lol

$275 sounds like a good price to me.

I also have a 120 with only one overflow. Single 1 1/2" bulkhead. You can click on the red house and see my set up.

If you ever travel north to Cape Girardeau, you can come see it in person.

I have a 55 gallon tank im not using ,

Im thinking about using it as my sump ,

I want two drains , and Im just going to have the returns come up the back of the tank I think. Though it would look better if they werent behind the tank, Its $20 bucks per hole , if I want to more holes drilled in the tank

I cant make up my mind if I want

1 overflow box with 4 holes in it (xoox) x,s being the reutnrs and o's being the drains, in the center of the tank towards the back

or If I want just one overflow box in the corner with only 3 holes , with 2 drains and only 1 return

im thinking the 2nd choice might be alot better

I am planning a 120 also!

I just bought an acrylic with one overflow, and 3 holes, xox, x being overflow, o being return.

I have 2 durso's either side of the return and then the return is plumbed about 3" about the overflow and then directed to either side where there is holes drilled in the acrylic.

I really like the setup, it isnt running yet as i am still planning but it should be a nice setup.

stsonpers, is your overflow in the corner or the center of the back of the tank

I think im going to go wiht the corner overflow

Mine is in center.

Its perfect, once the rock is in there, there is going to be no way you can see the overflow

im debating whether one in the corner or one in the center
