im going tonight and picking up a small nano protien skimmer sinec i will really only be relying on the rock and cleaner crew for filtration. it will add a little comfort zone for me i guess, and i iwll also be picking up a few more lbs of live rock, maybe 5-7 or random sized pieces. ill have more pics up tomorrow after i add the rest of the stuff.

You may want to upgrade those lights in the near future if you plan on keeping corals.

But besides that...looking good so far.

im going to invest in a corallife dual bulb system in the near future, just wanted to get the rock in. its something about a 10g tank filled with sand and saltwater that doesnt keep the mind stimulated.....

and after about 24hrs. im starting to see little things growing out of the rock, one has the shape of a gorgonian but its still tooo early to tell. you would never think that a rock would keep man so entertained. i cant wait till tonight when i get more!!!

well guys as i promised new picks and a new story. went to my LFS yesturday to buy more rock. got more than a bargined for. i was charged 3.99 per lb. well, lets just say the women was bad HORRIBLE at math because i spent the same amount yesturday on my first 8lb piece of rock that i spend yesturday on the additional 15 i got. $30.00. she mistook a 15+lb rock for 8lbs and another 4+lb rock for 2lbs. also, i bought a yellow tale damsel for 2.99 just to cycle my tank. with out further delay...her is my tank as it stis right now....tell me what you think.

after adding the new rock...

Looks much better with more rock. You going to have a fun time getting that damsel out if you don't plan on keeping it.

now heres my question, all over the original rock i bought, the one to the left in the pictures, their are white squiggle tube looking things attached to the rock, at one end a feather looking crown comes out and when scared goes back it. colors vary from red, to pink to green. i though they were feather dusters, their are about 10 active ones of all sizes and colors, my cousin told me thye may be small Apastias(sp?) the stinging anenome that can over run a tank, does anyone have a picture of the Apastia(sp?) so i can cross referance with the growth on my rock? i tried getting a picture last night, but the camera wont zoom in close enough and stay clear

They are just worms. They are perfectly fine. I've got some red ones in my tank.

so they wont affect anything than? i mean they are really neat looking, and all differant colors, i was actualyl going to get a bottle of like marinesnow or something to suppliment their feeding because they give me something to watch.

Those are feather dusters, appropriately names for their feather-like crown...they are no harm to your tank...just be careful dosing anything to your tank, because they really don't each much...so, a single drop from a syringe might be enough to suppliment them for a few days or a week...if they even need that because they will filter feed from stuff that grows in/on the live rock...

All you need to do now is wait for that baby to cycle. :)

im actually slowly but surly growing more algea each day. the purple on the first rock i bought is growing, and i see some brown gettin there. how long do you think it will take? i bought micro-vert last night and added like 3-5 drops since theres only about 10-15 dusters on there. ill feed them again in a few days.
