Anyway to tell by looking at an aquarium if it's glass or acrylic ?

acrylic is normally just one piece. There are acrylic tanks that are several pieces like glass tanks, but if you see one that is all one, its probably not glass. Also tap on it...glass feals like...glass lol, and acrylic feals like plastic (because it is :) )

Kinda hard to explain, but you just have to look at them side by side and you'll pick up on it really quick.

Also acrylic is usually clearer (unless it is starphire glass). Most glass besides starphire has a greenish tint if you look at the edges of each piece. Acrylic is 100% clear even on the edges.

you could tap on it with your fingernail... you should be able to tell based on the sound it makes...
