Can you get a better pic?

Fuzzy pic looks like a condy to me to.

Check out liveaquaria and see if it looks like any of those anemones. Also meerwasser.

Check out the link I posted. It has also has a pic of a LTA (Macrodactyla doreensis) there as well. It doesn't look like a LTA seen in the trade.

I am hoping it is a LTA, the malu kind, i guess we will see in a few hours because it seems to be going darker and darker with nice purple tips. Not to mention my clowns are kind of going in and out of it. It has allready burried its foot in the sand, so who knows.

If it is a condy, should i keep it?

The price doesn't always reflect what the nem actually is. The price reflects what the LFS is calling it and probably what they paid for it.

I think the tentacles are too long to be malu, and I don't think they have a red foot either.

Condies, on the other hand, do have a red foot, and these tentacles look very much like a condy anemone.

Congrats btw, for helping it begin to regain its zooxanthellae.

Yeah. Unfortunately, at least IMO, that is a condy. Not a clown hoster.

Another type of condy:

Not if you want a clown hoster. Get a BTA clone instead from a local reefer.

What should i do with it, i dont want to just flush it.

Wow! A lot of other posts showed up while I was posting.

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't pay more for a condy that it's worth. I don't like to pay more for anything than it's worth. I would take it back and get my money back or store credit. I'm guessing there are plenty of other ways you could spend that money on your tank.

Good luck!

:lmao: It's okay, join the club. :) I'm sure 98.78% of us on this website have bought something for more than it's worth. Take it back to the place you got it and get store credit.

Could i pick up a RBTA and put it in the tank with the condy in it or do i have to get rid of the condy first?

COreefer
12/31/2006, 05:26 PM
I would take it back and demand your $$$ back for the fact they misrepresented what it was. That is unless you want to keep it. How much did you pay for it??

12/31/2006, 05:26 PM
An arm and a leg,lol.

FWIW if you want to keep the condy I believe sexy shrimp host them. I don't know if that maroon will let the sexies be though.

I might keep it for a few weeks and kind of get my moneys worth and i will go ahead and pick up another anemone. Not a condy though. lol

Okay but you should know that if your clowns decide to host it there is the possibility that they will eventually will get eaten. Condys come from the Atlantic. Clowns and clown anemones from the Pacific.

bluerug
12/31/2006, 05:38 PM
Is it a sure thing they will eat my maroons or is it just a maybe? Hopefully they wont even host in it.

It is most likely going to be the case but maybe yours will be the exception. Many people have stories of them eating the clowns while they sleep in the tentacles.

Dude, you have got to get that thing back fast, I can get those all day long for $6.99. I would demand a refund, they outright lied to you. Then I would find a new lfs. Just my 2cents. Hope everything works out for you, everyone falls for something sooner or later I have been taken a time or 2 myself.

Well I am just wondering why you would even put an anemone in a tank thats only a week old. Keep the Condy until the tank is ESTABLISHED and then get a nice BTA for your Maroons to host.
