Toledo Reef And Freshwater Aquarium Club January Meeting
We will be having a meeting to formally introduce a great organization! This meeting is a general meeting for both the reef and freshwater sides of the club and we will discuss that relationship further at the meeting. We are very excited with the current foundation and direction of the club and we would like to discuss this with you in more detail and hear your thoughts.
For more details please see our website at www.traccentral.org
I would love to see all the members of NORA at our meeting. I hope to see all of you there.
Thanks!

Looks like we're going to have a really nice turn out to our meeting. I'm hoping some of the NORA members will be able to show up to help add some more value to experience to help out those that are less experienced reefers at the meeting. We would really appreciate it!

I am surprised that a club would not want announcements such as this in their forum. It is nice to see what is going on. I suppose that all announcements of events such as other club's speakers, frag swaps etc are out too? I would think that NORA would like to have a good relationship with other clubs regardless of individual personal differences.
I don't wish to cause a problem, but would you please post a sticky at the top of your forum as to what posts are acceptable in your forum?

Jen, please layoff, as explained in the other thread I found this to be different from SMART's meeting anouncement and was not concerned as it was an invitation directly to NORA as a club. The only reson I even posted in that thread was to appease you. If you have issues with me please PM or E-Mail me, it does not need to be handled in a public manner.

I don't have issues and I thought that I was being polite. I am just asking for a clarification as to what kind of announcements that you would / would not like. We will modify our invites to NORA accordingly.
We would like to be friendly. We were indeed inviting NORA to participate in our frag swap/meeting. We would like to be cordial. We are not trying to compete in any way. I hope that you are not taking it as such.
I have no issues with you, NORA and most members of NORA. I am trying to overlook my personal differences with one person, and it is that only one person. I have no issues with you and I hope that you do not with me.
Again, I am offering a peace offering with you and NORA. As far as a PM, if you have issue with me (I don't with you so I see no need for a PM), feel free to PM me.

Jen, I understand you are trying to be accomodating, but to be quite frank, I don't intend to let one person speak for every single person in an entire club. I will post information as I see fit. I'm sure the majority of NORA members prefer friendship rather than division. Reef Central is a world wide community. It is not dictated by any one person.

Hi Mike,
I appologize for the Toledo Reef Club meeting post. I always ask before I make a post and I asked Dubbin if it would be alright if I could post our meeting announcements on the ReefCentral Forum and on the NORA website and he said that it wouldn't be a problem. I appologize for this and I will no longer post our meeting announcements in your forums. I will direct any further post inquiries to you. Could you please email me at webadmin@traccentral.org so I can have your email on file to help better work with Nora.
Thank-You,
-Scott

Please remember this for all your posts on RC.
I am sorry that my polite response to your informational posting has made you feel that I have evaded your rights on RC. Please continue to post as you see fit.

Thank you for the heads up, but this is the Northwest Ohio Reefkeeping Association forum, not the smart forum. Please post meeting announcements in the appropriate forum, thank you.

Telling me to get out of your forum, however polite you try to come off, is not polite at all. Polite would have been to say thanks for the heads up and to contact you with any future postings. You didn't ask me to do this or even tell me how to go about gaining your approval (even though I am adamantly opposed to the need to ask approval), you basically said get out of your forum. Do you really think people can't see through your fake politeness? You tried tell me to get out of your forum and at the same time fool people into thinking you were being nice. That is an insult to these intelligent users. Your ex-president before you tried to manipulate people's thoughts and feelings and now you are. That is so sad.
When it comes right down to it, this is not a welcoming, warm and friendly response to have our clubs join ranks with each other, but rather a polite way to tell SMART to take a long walk. I'm pretty sure people are SMART enough to see that.
We at SMART will continue to reach out the members of NORA, because we really believe in our hearts that they would like work together in unity and one day we will.

Although it is not in the [ua], RC's position on matters such as this is as follows;
If you are speaking for an entire club, and want to invite members of other local clubs to your club's event. please take the time to find out who is Pres, or at least on the BOD of the club you wish to invite. Once you know who this person is, please take the time to communicate your wishes, and ask if it would be welcomed.
Once an elected officer has given their blessing, individual members don't have much of a case for disapproval.
Given that the meeting discussed in this thread was today, I think the best course of action is to close this thread.
