Opinions on this model protein skimmer?

And yes I did a search, found one guy who had one, but never posted his experiences...

It's an Oceanic Plus Series Model 6 Protein Skimmer.

I have an option for one for cheap (50$), just wondering if it's worth it.

BTW: for those that know, is it sump only, or can it be set as a stand alone with water pumped into it?

I ran one a long time ago. It was very good at the time for being so small. I ran it off an Eheim but I can't remember the model number. Anyhow, it did work pretty good. At the time I had no control over my sump level due to evap. and it did cause the skimmer quality to fall off a bit.

This could have been fixed by some evaporation makeup system or just raising the skimmer above the sump water level.

For $50 bucks it is ok and if it came with the pump even better. Compared to other small sump skimmers I would still think of it as a good one....
