"Honeycomb limestone" or Texas "Holey rock"

Hi,
I'm looking to use the following rock for my setup. I looked in the buy/sell forums with no luck. I also checked the LFS no luck either. Anyone have any sites/stores they know of?
The rock is "Honeycomb limestone" or Texas "Holey rock"
Thanks in advance

Gibson,

I do not know of a source for either of those. You could Contact www.premiumaquatics.com and they may be able to help you out.

I have, in the past, bought Caribsea's Reef Rocks from www.thatpetplace.com but this is very dense heavy rock.

I don't either, but I was just wondering why you would want to purchase such a dense and usually relatively cheap rock online. It is usually pretty common to find at most LFS, and maybe someone else near Ft Lauderdale can recommend a good reef store. It makes no sense to me to have it shipped in, because limestone such as those varieties are usually mined from Southern states like Florida, Louisiana and Texas anyway (not to mention the fact that true LR is collected off your shores!).

Texas Holey Rock is naturally-mined limestone. It does contain a little more impurity than you would find in calcium carbonate directly from the reef ("dead" dry live rock) but because most people who use it in reef tanks use just a bit as base rock, it isn't usually a problem. It will not be as practical and beneficial as true live rock due to its density... not as much bacteria will be able to live in it (whereas Fiji LR has tons of micropores, making it less dense), so this also makes it much less of a bargain to have it shipped (it would normally cost only about 1/5th of the price of quality LR, unshipped price, but with shipping, this will inflate a lot). I would try and find it at a store first.

Found some

I found some in Good ole Texas.
Yes supposedly there is some in N. FL but I don't have the time to trapse around looking for it.
The majority of the LFS are dumbfounded. I am going to have to sell the idea to them to purchasing some of the rock. I recently found a guy near Antoinio who has plenty of it at a good price. I am using this rock for African Cichlids - I know I was propably using the wrong group of people to ask, but I a sure there are some reefers out there who have fresh water setups as well.
I have lace rock and painted corals (Looks kinda like a reef/fish setup) Will try to post a picture later on.
Thanks for trying to help.

I have several secret sources around austin where I pick it up when Im out in the woods. Actually it is quite common in Austin and you can find lots of nice pieces just lying on the ground. I also used it for african cichlids but also used a large arch piece (60#) in my reef when I first started saltwater. I still have the piece in my 55 FOWLR covered in coraline algae, feather dusters and other goodies. the damsels go in one hole and come out on the complete other side of the tank. I think its great when not neccesarily needed as a source of filtration.
