I did a water change about a week and a half ago on the 30 and my CA tested 500 today, and I haven't added any CA at all, my PH is 8.2, my ALK was alittle high, but I don't have the tests with the numbers.

When we did a change on the 75 yesterday, it was about a 25g change. Of course we have a 20g sump. The CA tested 550 today. So to answer you question about CA being thru the roof... I would say it will be high and you probably won't have to add any. The choice to switch is up to you to decide. If things are working with the IO, maybe you should stick to it. We used to use IO. With Oceanic you don't use as much IMO, desolves much faster. 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another.... I guess after sitting and thinking about it, it isn't an easy decision. When we changed we didn't have corals in the tank, but I have heard of others switching with corals and not having any trouble.

I don't know... I think I am just as confused as you now!!! LOL .... Sometimes thinking is a dangerous thing

I dose ARAGAMilk 2-3 times a week and Liquid Calcium 2 times a week as well as Drip Kalkwasser 2-3 times a week, the Kalkwasser helps maintain Calcium once you get it up. I add Iodine once a week, and the ARAGAMilk has other essential trace elements besides a good amount of Calcium. I do water changes every 6-7 days and an extra one or two water changes each month just because I think it helps because of my high bioload.

amanda, GREAT ORDERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I count the days to see those beautys in your tank and for you to share some pictures !!!!!!

well, today I bought 45lbs of live rock ( lost all respect from my credit card since the LR was from indonisia and in good shape. and expensive. oh well, that's what gold cc are for : to toast ;-) )

here are the before :

and the after the 45lbs in :

I know the 2nd pic is a mess, was taken in a hurry and the water is somewhat milky due to the LR in, 35gal water change that I did and a bit of substrate vaccum also. water should be pristine clear ( like the above photo ) in a few days ;-)

heck, I'm much more confident in my live rock filter since I have now : 25 lbs of premium fiji rock, 45lbs of good indonisia rock, 200 lbs of the "old rock" where 100ish is alive or at least with corraline.

that's a good live rock for a 145 galon tank ;-) plus, 40lbs of new live sand... wehhhhhhishhhhh , now let the cycle ends !!!!!!!! plus, some big bunch of caulerpa is on the refuge already, to help things down ;-)

people, what you think about the AQUASCAPING only !!!!! ??? of the second picture ? in real, it looks great, zillions of small and medium caves and those 3 big caves.. wow.. I love it, but do you guys have a better advice ?

I use oceanic. My tank's overall quality improved greatly after using it, but I'm not sure if it was because of the salt or just my tank maturing; it is only 1 and a half years old....

I use Oceanic too. The best thing I like about it is that I can agressively stir with a wood spoon and it requires no airation or pumps running for an hour or so to disolve all the salt. Before Oceanic I used the Bio Sea Marine Mix sold at Premium Aquatics. It is highly rated but got tired of ordering online.

Let's play a game, if you arre up to it, go on the net and see if you can find a cool coral, post the pic here, and I'll try to guess what it is. Good way for us to learn about corals.
