Oceanic sump. Need suggestions.

Well Im on my way, and purchased my tank in 10yrs. Got a used 90 gallon oceanic reef ready with cherry oak stand and model 2 oceanic sump.

The sump has one of thier own set of baffles in it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what if any modifications should be done to it. I know they have a thier own bio chamber (without bio balls of course) but seems expensive for what it is.

Does my drain line just need to drop into a sock and maybe add a carbon filter right into that?

I am using the Oceanic Sump without the bio chamber. I just put a piece of PVC with a T on the end to hold the filter sock. I just use carbon (Chemi-Pure) passively in the area that the return pump sits in.
