Question Help! There is a monster in my tank!

I am brnad new to salt water tanks. I purchased all of my live rock from a local store and my tank is just now in the beginning to cycle. Today I noticed this creature opening and closing like a clam. I am not sure what it is as I have not seen any similiar creatures online. What is it? What should I do about it?

What are we supposed to guess? I think it's a racoon. Those things will get into everything!

[welcome]

Sarcasm aside, your description could be anything.

A picture would help immensely.

If you can't take a photo, try drawing what you see in Paint.

Something that opens and closes could be a LOT of things.

Be careful with the racoon, they really need a tank that is at least 4' wide.

Oh and as for what to do about it... nothing. Not until you know what it is anyway.

It is most likely something harmless.

Best way to find out if it's a racoon put some trash out, and see if he comes out to go threw it.
