For People with tank losses: And for those willing to help...

One of the great things about this club is the desire of the majority of the membership to help out during tough times. I think that the recent ice storm and its effect on many of our members systems certainly qualify as tough times.

I have seen numerous post on here from people who have lost all of their livestock. I have had this happen to me when I lived in England, and I know how you feel.

I have also seen numerous posts from people willing to pass along frags and or corals to help those who unfortunate.

I would like to propose this....

Lets make part of the January meeting "Bring a frag and help a reefer out". ...this is in addition to the membership drive.

This will give those with losses time to get their system back into order and have it ready to recive some corals from the other members. Also, if anyone has frags to return for the donor program, lets make sure they go to those who have bare tanks right now.

If you want to help out, please add your name and what you can bring along....

If you have ahad a wipe out, please add your name and let us know.

Lets make this a priority for those with COMPLETE losses please.

Yes please Roman.

What we may do is enroll all incoming frags on to the donor program with all coming in at the Jan meeting going to those members with tank losses. By doing this we ensure that those with losses, and ultimately the club as a whole, get to benefit from everyones generosity.

I want to thank you all that have volunteered to give frags so far. This IS what COMAS is all about.

Paul.

I suffered a total loss in the ice storm. I'm not sure if my tank will be ready to accept livestock that soon. I'll be happy just to be able to signup for frags from donors. When I am ready to add livestoc. Mostly all the frags I had were from our donor program.

Paul,
I would be glad to help out. I know how dishearting it is when things happen out of our control like power outages and you lose your aquariums. We were without power 26 hours. I will give the club 200.00 in gift certificates, you tell me what denomination you want them, and i will find some frags for them also. Just let me know. Kathy

Thanks Kathy,

Thats very generous of you. I have to come by the store just after New Years with a copy of the club calendar for you.

I will send you a private message and we can find a time suitable for both of us.

Till then, Happy New Year !

Paul.

If you are a COMAS member and your tank suffered during the recent bouts of bad weather, please PM and let me know what happened to you, how long you were without power and what you lost. This will help us coordinate our and your efforts to get your tank back into shape.

Also let me know what you did to try and keep things alive. I will use that information to make a list up for people to follow in case of future incidents.

In the next few days Travis will post a few details on how to return your rock and sand to a usable condition ready for restocking your tank.

Many thanks,

Paul.

Exactly how many people in need are we talking about here? Who has tanks ready to take in some new corals?

I believe Paul W. asked for a list of tanks along with the size and light...do we have that?

Are these frags going to be considered in the frag program?

Also, Aquariums is willing to give some frags to those who lost all so I need an idea of how many need them. Anyone?

Sheryl,
the people with tank losses have PM-d me, as I requested in the thread. For the most part they will not be ready to begin restocking till February.

I have already begun coordinating the frags and how they will be handled and all of that will be covered in the newsletter that will be sent out in the next few days.

I can let leighanne know who has losses and we can add those in to the donations as well.

Paul.
