Is this a good lens for my D50?

I'm currently using the stock 18-55 lens on my Nikon D50 and I came across this on Amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-50mm-Nik...e=UTF8&s=photo

Will I see an improvement in my pictures over my stock 18-55 lens?

If anyone has this lens or one similar to it please post pics.

It's a lens every nikonian should have in their bag regardless. The lens is fast and sharp and at a very cheap price. I use it for fish picture sometime and it's superb! A prime lens is much better than a zoom if you use it correctly.
Shot with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8

it's a great low light lens, portrait lens... it's a great lens for most anything... :-)

Here's a shot with that lens and a D50 at the GA aquarium...

I hope you haven't ordered it yet....Amazon's price of $125 is a bit too much.

The 50mm f/1.8 can be had for $115 for the USA version or $105 for the Imported version at www.bhphotovideo.com

B&H is probably the MOST trusted photo website anywhere. Yes there are other good camera supply sites, but B&H has the best reputation around. If you haven't checked it out yet you should really go take a look.

Also, before adding lenses....do you have a good quality tripod for taking tank shots? How about a remote release? Just a couple of other options to help improve your photography. Accessory items like these are just as important as a good lens.

Here's a few pics with the lens. I'm still learning to use it (and the camera) but I'm very happy with it. I can get the colors much closer to the way my tank really looks than I ever could with my 18-55
