Some new macro's (14 pictures)
Here are a few images that I snapped while visiting someone elses tank that I don't think I posted here yet. I wish my SPS collection looked this good. All pics were with Canon Rebel XT and 100mm F/2.8 lens. Comments are always welcome. Enjoy!

Blazer...your macro shots are always simply amazing. The color, sharpness, composition. I'm certainly in awe of your skills with this type of photography. I would have to say that numbers 13, 9, 3, and 2 would be my favorites.
If you ever considered quitting your day job I think it's safe to say what you could do to fill in the time...and maybe the income stream too!! Any advice on details on the shots? Aperature/Shutter Speed/ISO settings for these shots?

Thanks for the really nice comments VoidRaven. I don't know about quitting my day job but I have sold some images to an aquarium company for them to use with their advertising. It's not enough to live on (and I would never try) but it's enough to get some more camera equipment As for some settings, these were taken on a tripod so I shot in Av, middle aperture (F/8-F/16'ish), and ISO 100. I've taken close to 5000 shots with my camera, it just takes lots and lots of practice!

I hear you on the practice part. And the comments were certainly well earned! Congrats on having sold some images as well! That's always a cool feeling when someone wants to purchase your work...at least it was for me!
ISO 100 eh? Hmmm...I need to try that. According to the exif, what was the average shutter speed running around? At f/8-f/16 range I would think a second or two...but then again it would depend on the tank lighting. The ones I took recently (that I posted here) I think were at ISO 400 and between the f/4-f/12 range with some shutter speeds around the 1/15th second mark using spot metering.

Thanks for the comments everyone. chetm2, I do turn off the pumps while I shoot corals. There were still plenty of particles in the water but it's much easier to edit them out when they aren't moving. I just use the auto white balance when I take the pictures (they still come out blue) but do color correction in photoshop.

blazer-those pics are great- are you using auto focus? How far away from the glass are the acro's that show the body lines and what do you set the lens's sliding switch to? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn-thanks.

Awesome shots. Did you edit in the black background or is the tank you shot just that clean?

KEEPERZ, I do use autofocus when I shoot. I only use manual if I use a large aperture and the DOF is very narrow. I was anywhere between the minimum focusing distance (can't remember off the top of my head) to about 18" away from the corals. I'm not real sure what you mean about the lens slider switch though. marion420td, I do edit the background to black to help bring out the subject more. I don't think any tank could be that clean, lol.
