smallest species of moray available?

dear reefers.
i am trying to find out what the smallest available species of moray is... i work at a LFS and we had a tiny one that came in with some rock, brownish in color and never got bigger than 6 inches. unfortunately he sold 2 days before i was ready for him, and since he came on rock i don't know where to find another. anyone have any ideas as to other small species, or even the ID of the one my store got in? i don't know the origin of the live rock, so no help there. also if anyone can recommend me any suppliers of eels, i want one badly but like the smaller ones. thanks guys - harry

True golden morray are only about 7 inches when full grown. They have blue eyes and are mostly gold/ yellow, while some do have a little black. Try www.themarinecenter.com I know that they had a pic of one a while ago. They are mostly reef safe too!

Hi:
when you call places make sure you're asking about he right eel. Most morays w/ the name golden or dwarf in it are G Milaris. The eel your looking for is G. Melatremus it is a tiny pencil sized moray approx 7-10" long. They call it a number of names but dwarf golden morey is one of them. Make sure you can talk the talk ,otherwise you will end up w/ a golden morey. These are also gorgeous but get over 12" long and eat fish.
Also do a search here. Many people have asked this question, and there is even on post which a poster included photos of this eel.

yeah i've researched these guys well. milaris is too big, and the true dwarfs are much more expensive than i thought! and to think the LFS i work at sold him for 20! (some lucky customer, i offered him $40 today, he's getting back to me soon... i'll even do $50, but we'll see hwta he says to 40 first!). anyways anyone know about richardson's morays? supposedly they stay small but aren't as reef safe. i think i might just set up a big eel tank. we have a full grown one thats about 9 inches tops, but bulky. we had him in an invert tank for months though and he never ate anything that we notcied (shrimp, crabs, small clowns) anyways thanks - harry
